Reminders to all Parents

Overloaded School Backpacks Often Cause Aches and Pains

To prevent injury, Boys Town Orthopeadics and the AAOS recommends:

Source: Parenting

* While browsing on the net I saw this article at Parenting.org. This is a fact! Schools require the students to bring their books everyday and will put in their school bags. It's very heavy. Poor students carrying heavy loads everyday but we parents must buy a bag with a wheels so that they will not carry it in their back to prevent injuries.*

Grandma's Nighties

nightiesKylaI saw this photo on my files when we are in Manila last April. I like this photo because wears the “pantulog” of my mom in law. She is so “maarte”, she imitates mom in laws night clothes even though it’s hot in Manila. It is silk and so it’s hot to wear even at night. I remember our unforgettable first vacation in Manila in this photo that I cherish forever. I think we can never go there next summer because Kyla will have a summer class. Maybe when she grows up and for that time I will not follow her, she will not miss me anymore at her right age.

Tips on Traveling with your Toddler

Source: www.parenting.ivillage.com

"This is a good tips to all parents because it is very important that you have concern for your child’s safety in traveling together with them. Just like my daughter, sis in law and my daughter Kyla went to Manila last March. They ride on a plane; it was Kyla’s first time to ride in a plane. Sis in law relay to us that Kyla just sleep on the plane, maybe “nahilo siya”. She was behaved on the plane likewise our return trip here in Davao, she also sleeps."

Tips for parents in times of trauma:

Source: Parents as Teachers

** Kyla is a keen observer child because when sometimes I talk to her Papa with a loud voice. She will tell me “Ano gawa ninyo? Nag-aaway ba kayo Mama at Papa?”. Then I will reply “Hindi anak, nag-uusap lang kami ni Papa”. She is realy a smart kid. Kyla always ask question about everything she saw on TV and around her. Sometimes it’s hard to explain but we need to for them to stop asking. Whew! We need to be teachers also. **

I and Kyla on the plane

kylanmeplane

This photo taken when we are inside the plane of Cebu Pacific, I love being there. Kyla was behaved and did sleep on my lap. I think “nahilo siya”, it’s okay because she feels like riding on a jeepney or taxi. Usually, she sleeps when we travel. Kyla hold my hand so tight when the plane was about to land. She was afraid but I told her to keep calm because we are in Davao. I thanked God for giving us safe trip from Manila.

"Goin Bulilit"

Every Sunday Kyla watches “Goin Bulilit”. Kyla had fun watching kids making jokes. They are talented and very smart because they can deliver their script correctly. Kyla wants to join “Goin Bulilit”. Well, let’s see. I think she wants to be a celebrity. I disagree on that because I want her to finish her studies first before entering such thing.

Watch this video of “Supahpapalicious” version of “Goin Bulilit”.

Do you discipline your Child?

Yeah! I discipline my child for she is a child and it is natural that she is hard headed and spoiled. I punish her when she has done wrong and explain to her the reason why I punish her. I le her understand that I hate what she does; it is not right and so better not to do that again. I want her to identify what is right and wrong. The Bible taught us to train our child in good way so that they will not depart from it, the good way. I’m glad she listens to me why I scolded her.

..for Kyla's Education

barbie

Do you remember this Barbie bank of my child?

I think we reached the middle part of it. It means that it can be full by after 3 months or maybe by December. I am planning to get her a bank account at BDO because I will put her savings there. That money will be for her schooling by next year. Gosh! I’m excited but worried if we can afford her school. I will send her to private school near our subdivision so that it’s easy for us to fetch her. I pray that God will help us meet our expected amount to save for this year.

Brush..Brush your Teeth!

My child uses COLGATE toothpaste with a bubblegum flavor. I try other fruit flavor for her but she doesn't like the taste. I always tell her that we should brush her teeth so that she will be more beautiful. I am happy because every time I take her a bath. She will remind me to brush her teeth. As a parent, we should introduce teeth hygiene to prevent "bulok" in her teeth.

Kyla's Buddy

Kyla used to go to our neighbors house. Just in one block away, Jboy live. This boy was five years older than my daughter but they “click” to each other. But they sometimes quarrel due to Jboy always tease Kyla and so my daughter easily gets angry or “pikon”. They are kids and so it’s natural for them to have misunderstanding for quiet sometimes.

kylanjboy

I remember when my brother and I was just a kid and so we never are good friends. We always fight for everything but now we are close and will share each other’s secret. LOL!

At Manila Bay

kylafountainI saw this photo on my files and come up on my mind to post it here.

It was my birthday and we went to SM Mall of Asia. Manila Bay was near there, many people were there strolling and dating too. LOL! Yeah! It’s true huh.. Kyla had fun watching the fountain and so we sat there for a while because mom in law was in the airport for some important purposes. The fountain did dance and it was wonderful that really amazed everybody in there. I think sis in law got a video on it. Kyla was so happy watching it. After that Kyla sleep on my lap while I and sis in law chat each other. My poor Kyla was tired that long day yet a memorable birthday for me ever.

Thanks Ma.

Kyla is "Chubby"

Hubby’s sister and her grandma were amazed of Kyla’s figure. She’s fat because she eats a lot. Her Tita Hannah teases her “chubby”. I’m happy because she is healthy and she is “hiyang sa Fern C”.

Whew! I’ll buy food for her tomorrow because she is finding in a fridge. She will be complaining and asking for food every hour. Oh no! I’m out of my budget. It’s okay as long as she is in good health always. I always pray for that because she has history of convulsion. I thanked you Lord.

Kyla's new MAT

Yesterday, we drop to Ace Hardware at SM for hubby will buy a new switch for he repairs all the wirings in our house. He is kind a computer tech, electrician and etc for he knows everything.

I saw a rubber place mat for Kyla. I ask her if she likes it then she quickly reply “Opo Mama”. We brought here in my mom’s house and she likes sleeping there though it has bad smell because it is rubber. She sleeps there tonight and I carry her and transfer her in our room. I plan to buy another one tomorrow so that it will be wider.

SM trip yesterday

After going to church, I and Kyla went to SM to buy her toys and clothes as usual plus have lunch there. Hubby just followed us for he wakes up late and did not go to church.

While waiting for hubby at SM, I and Kyla stroll and I saw that Company offers 50% discount on all items. I bought 2 blouses for Kyla worth P284.75 only. I want to add some more but all items are in big sizes. Then, we decided to take our lunch at IGLOO. Kyla did not eat very well because she wants to eat ice cream there and so we ordered a 1 cup scoop and put it in the cup so that she will not be messy.

It's better to stay at home..

Our neighbor wants I and Kyla to join with them on going to cinema. We will watch “Urduja” at SM. I’m afraid that Kyla will be scared inside the cinema because it’s dim plus she has cinema fee like an adult fee. Gosh! I don’t want to waste my money. I’m not sure if she can stay long in the cinema. I’ll be worrying most if she will say that she wants to go home in the middle of the story of the movie. Grrr! I’ll get angry. I let her sleep than going to cinema. Maybe by tomorrow we can go to mall as my hubby promised to treat us for lunch and stroll in the mall.

Tips for Preventing Choking

If you are the parent or care giver of an infant or child under 4 years old, follow these tips from the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Red Cross, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to reduce the chances of choking.

At Mealtime

* Insist that your children eat at the table, or at least sitting down. Watch young children while they eat. Encourage them to eat slowly and chew their food well.

* Cut up foods that are firm and round and can get stuck in your child's airway, such as

* Other foods that can pose a choking hazard include:

“I can relate in this article because Kyla easily get choke. She sometimes plays while eating and so she will eat as fast she can. But I always told her that she eat very well. Chew the food very well. I’m pleased that she follows what I am saying to her.

For all moms, better read this tips for your child’s safety.”

Kyla's Fav Day

Myspace Friday Comments

There are no classes tomorrow. Kyla is so happy today because her playmate can stay long with her. They will play “bahay-bahayan” in our lawn with “banig”. Every time she saw her friends arrived from school, she will have a roll call of their names and invite them to join her in playing. After playing, she will ask for her dinner. She’s hungry because of playing. I’m glad that she is friendly and that she shares her toys to her friends.

Bad news

This week news is such a horrible one because a mom did throw her baby in a condo unit in Manila. The poor baby died because of his mom’s craziness. Why are some moms like that? It’s not a valid reason that because of poverty or unwanted pregnancy. Such a foolish reason it was. If you cannot take care of your baby then opt to adoption to some people who needs a baby. Babies are God’s creation like us and so they have the right to live in this world. I don’t want to hear such bad news like this because I pity on the baby and will leave a comment which is not good.

Kyla's Name

kyla1
My daughter’s name is Mickyla Angeline Nacario. It was pretty similar to her father’s name so also to my name. Her father’s name was Michael Angelo Nacario. My name is Jilyn Nacario. Can you get it? Her nickname is Kyla. For Kyla was the favorite singer of my hubby. And so what do you think? It matches to our name huh..

And if I have a baby boy, I will give him a name “Matthew Julienne”. I will call him “Theo”. Gosh! I’m so excited you know but it’s not the right time. Maybe by next year, we have a little boy.

Kyla "The Ice Cream Girl"

Kyla eat ice cream everyday. She will wait for the ice cream vendor to pass by in my mom’s house. She can easily recognize its “cling-cling” sound of the bells that vendors used to call for child’s attention. Well, it’s only three pesos and my daughter will be happy eating such food like that. The vendor always passes by in our street because he knows that Kyla is waiting for him. Kyla is such a smart kid. I have no choice but to buy an ice cream for her everyday before she will get a nap in the afternoon.

Why is Toddler ... so selfish and possessive?

kylalying02This is a normal part of development for your child. He may begin to play around other children, but it will be 'parallel play.' Children at this age are very self-centered and may play alongside each other, but it will be some time before they actually start playing together. Your child will probably not want to share his things and he may be very possessive, even getting to the point of getting angry and hitting if another child touches his things.

It is important to closely supervise children that are playing together at this age and reassure them that the other child will not keep his toys. Let him know that it is okay if the other child touches or looks at his things and that he will return them. Keep a few of his favorite items separate and not available for sharing so that he feels he has some control over things.

If this behavior problem does not improve as your child becomes more mature, then more treatment may be required to fix the problem.

Source: Keep Kids Healthy

“Kyla has surpassed this kind of behavior because now she shares thing to her friends. She let them borrow and play with her in our lawn. Not like when she is 1 year old, she is selfish for she don’t want other children to play with her toys. She gets envy when her loved ones entertain those children. I thanked God for she is now mature and willing to share what she has. She is a loving and generous child now. I’m proud of her.”

Kyla's Friends

Kylafriends01Kyla(my daughter), Jboy and Guting

Kyla has so many friends in my mom’s neighborhood. Every time they arrived from school, Kyla will call them and ask them to join with her playing her toys in the lawn. She is happy when they are around. Kyla is growing and that she is playful. She is very friendly that is why some kids here like her so much though she is a little kid among them. But hubby sometimes told me not to let Kyla go to other house because it is not good. It is better that her friends will be playing in our house or lawn.

I am teaching Kyla

Hubby wants me to teach Kyla on identifying the alphabet and numbers. And so I start teaching her but she is playing and smiling at me. She memorizes the alphabet and numbers but cannot identify it. I had a hard time teaching her and so I scolded her. My mom told me that she can’t easily get it because she is only 3 years old. I realized that she is too young and that I must teach step by step so that she can get it. I hope she will be serious enough on our study time tomorrow.

Kyla's 2 yrs old BIKE

KylaBike
Last week hubby got a chance to post Kyla in her 2 years old bike. I remember that we bought it at SM for it is Midnight Sale last December 2006. Now, that she is 3 years old she learned how to bike. Its 1 year for her to learn how to bike because her feet cannot reach the pedal and so she had a hard time riding on it. This bike was given by hubby’s grandma for she is “Lola’s girl”. Every Christmas her great grandma will give her a pricey gift like bike and etc. Kyla is everyone’s favorite child at home.

Picky Eaters

As a toddler, your child may start to refuse to eat some foods, become a very picky eater or even go on binges where they will only want to eat a certain food. An important way that children learn to be independent is through establishing independence about feeding. Even though your child may not be eating as well rounded a diet as you would like, as long as your child is growing normally and has a normal energy level, there is probably little to worry about. Remember that early childhood is a period in his development where he is not growing very fast and doesn't need a lot of calories.

eating Also, most children do not eat a balanced diet each and every day, but over the course of a week or so their diet will usually be well balanced. You can consider giving your child a daily vitamin if you think he is not eating well, although he probably doesn't need it.

While you should provide three well-balanced meals each day, it is important to keep in mind that most younger children will only eat one or two full meals each day. If you toddler has had a good breakfast and lunch, then it is okay that he doesn't want to eat much at dinner.

Although your child will probably be hesitant to try new foods, you should still offer small amounts of them once or twice a week (one tablespoon of green beans, for example). Most children will try a new food after being offered it 10-15 times.

Other ways to prevent feeding problems are to not use food as a bribe or reward for desired behaviors, avoid punishing your child for not eating well, limit mealtime conversation to positive and pleasant topics, avoid discussing or commenting on your child's poor eating habits while at the table, limit eating and drinking to the table or high chair, and limit snacks to two nutritious snacks each day.

You should also not prepare more than one meal for your child. If he doesn't want to eat what was prepared for the rest of the family, then he should not be forced to, but you should also not give him something else to eat. He will not starve after missing a single meal, and providing alternatives to the prepared meal will just cause more problems later.

Source: Keep Kids Healthy

"My daughter Kyla is a “picky eater” due to she picks the food she wanted to eat. Sometimes I make stories that make her believe that certain food is delicious and good for the health. Not like when she was an infant she eats everything but now she often eats vegetables and viands that has soup. I wonder why but I noticed that she will eat those foods when you will not ask her what she wants to eat. She is smart huh..She knows that we loved her and that we give everything to her especially those foods she wants. But I talk to her that she must eat everything what is in the table because God gave it to us and so we must be thankful for that. I thanked for she listens to me."

..at SM Mall of Asia

Last May 4 (my birthday), we went to SM Mall of Asia. It was the biggest mall in the Philippines. Hearsay that you can’t stroll the mall in just one day due to its gigantic. That’s true you know because we only step at the first building and then there are two buildings more.

 KylaMall

I took this photo inside SM Mall of Asia. Kyla with her Tita Hannah was posing at the ice skating ring. I want to try but there are so many people there due to its Sunday. We just watch them. After we start dropping on some branded store but gosh their items were all pricey. We can’t afford. But we enjoy strolling there for a couple of hours. Our foot is aching due to walking and walking there..hehe..It was my memorable birthday ever. Thanks to my mom in law for a treat.

Kyla likes her GUESS denim jeans dress today though it’s hot. She kept on “papansin” on her Tito Bogy(my brother) because she wants to hear good comments about her outfit today. She is kind a proud of herself. Kyla is so smart and that she knows that she is pretty on her dress. Today is Sunday and so we go to church to hear God’s word. Kyla will attend her Sunday school.

Well, Kyla has numbers of Guess clothing on her closet. But all of it was on sale that’s why I grab it..

Kyla is Learning

alphabetYesterday, I went to NCCC mall and bought a alphabet, numbers and shapes chart. Hubby wants me to start tutoring my little angel Kyla. We are planning to put her in school next year. I want her to know everything so that she will be in advance of learning. I am happy that she is interested to learn. Then, after that I will teach her how to write her name. Gosh! Her name is quite long but I know she can do it.

She was very happy when she saw the charts. She started identifying those shapes.

Toddler with 8 limbs

Doctors in India have successfully operated on a 2-year-old girl born with four arms, four legs and extra internal organs, doctors said today.

A team of around 30 medics removed what amounted to Lakshmi Tatma's headless identical twin sister who was joined at the pelvis and who did not develop and separate properly in the womb - an extremely rare case.

"It went very well," said Mamta Patil, a doctor involved in the surgery at Sparsh Hospital in Bangalore in south India. "She'll be in intensive care for the next 48 hours."

I love my Little Kyla

kaygio

This little boy named GIo is Kyla’s cousin. Poor Gio her mother left him in his father and grand parents. Why are there moms like that? I can’t dare to leave my daughter for a long months and will not see her. I can’t sleep without her by my side. Just like when she is Manila for a vacation. I was so lonely and missed her smile. That is why I hurriedly follow her in Manila.

We must love and take care of our children because they are God’s gift to us. It’s our responsibilities, as parents to be with them until they get old. I love my daughter so much and I can’t live without her.

Kyla loves DORA

dora1

Kyla was so happy today because her father downloads a DORA DVD adventure in his memory stick. Then, he puts it in my desktop. Kyla loves to watch Dora and it shows to her face. Well, she is Papa’s Girl you know. Her father wants her to be happy and keep on smiling. Her father is her lawyer when sometimes I scolded her. She is so sweet and loving to her father. That is why her father loves her so much. But I make sure that she will not be a spoiled brat.

Shopping Day for Kyla

Last Friday was a rainy day until Saturday morning. I’m in the mood to go to SM to have shopping galore together with my family. Hubby wants us to go shopping malls in Sunday but her grandma will celebrate her birthday. Her relatives will come and that we must be at home. Hubby agreed on my idea to go SM last Saturday. My daughter Kyla was so excited and her Papa let her pick what she wants. She picks a make-up set toy. She is girly you know.  Then, I look a new dress for her because almost her clothes do not fit to her. We bought a lovely dress from MOOSE Girl which worth 4 hundred pesos plus. And she picks a pink headband and a pair of hair clip. We go down to look for a pair of sandals for Kyla. Gosh! She chose the sandals that have heels. Kyla is very “maarte”. She had fun fitting those things she bought in our home. Her father observes her that she knows what she want and that “nagtuturo na”. LOL!!!

Kyla is very Playful

I have a problem of my daughter Kyla in terms of taking a nap in afternoon. It is because she wants to play with her friends the whole day. Grrr! I scolded her for that because in the evening she keeps on moving while sleeping due to tiredness of playing. My mom said that it’s okay because next week her friends will be going to school and that she has no playmate. And so she can sleep a long hours in the afternoon, I’ll be patient for now.

BF Sweet on Skype

My bestfriend Sweet who is in Italy send me a message through chikka if we could chat now. She suggests if it’s okay for me to chat at Skype. I thanked I have an account there due to teaching online purposes. We talked for almost 2 hours and it’s very clear and we see each other through webcam. Hubby set my speaker on and so our conversation is open to the ears of my brother, my mom and my daughter Kyla. Kyla wakes up and talk her Ninang Sweet through headphone and wave her hands on cam. I let her memorize some memory verse and her Ninang was very proud of her. Sweet said that Kyla has a gift from her. She is a generous godmother. We will talk again because I cannot hear her due to the internet connection is very slow. I’m happy chit chatting with her because I missed her so much.

My Observation..

Why Toddler does changing in its attitude or behavior?

ellaatkylaMaybe because they are exploring and that they are learning. Just like my daughter Kyla who is a smart girl. She is very friendly to my mom’s neighbor. She is very playful and she has many friends that would play for her. She is very busy entertaining her friends and will sometimes forget to take her snack. But after playing she will ask food and eat.

5 Amazing Things You Can Learn from a Toddler

If you are having a hard time getting motivated to eat right and exercise, take note of how a toddler goes about their day.

  1. They are in motion all day long.
My son is in constant motion from the moment he wakes up to the moment he goes to sleep. He is a calorie burning machine that runs, jumps, hops, and skips everywhere he goes. He crawls around on the floor and does somersaults for no apparent reason. Take a lesson from your kids---the more you move, the more energy you have, and the more fit you will become.
  2. They stop eating when they are full.
Kids can resist that last bite of food because they don't feel the need to clean their plate. They can have one bite of a cookie and walk away. When was the last time you turned away the last bite of food, despite the fact that you were already full? Try it out today, you will probably find you need less food than you realize.
  3. They love to see themselves naked.
They are so proud of their bodies and embrace every single imperfection, scratch, and bruise. If you find yourself constantly criticizing your body, take a moment to thank it for all it does for you. Without our bodies, we would have a tough time getting round!
  4. They are very flexible!
Children are like pretzels, they can bend, twist, and reach in every direction. Why? Because they practice it everyday (see #1). As adults, we lose our flexibility because we do not stretch our muscles enough. Take a few minutes out of each day to do some much needed stretching or yoga.
  5. They get their sleep.
Children stay on top of their game by napping during the day and going to bed early at night.Their batteries are fresh and charged each morning. When was the last time you can say that about yourself? Turn off the TV, computer, and phone and get yourself a solids night sleep.

Bee Products at Ilog Maria

ilogmaria01

I took this photo when we are in “ILOG MARIA”. It has bee products like soap, honey, ointment, liniment and etc. Kyla had fun looking and smelling on the sweet aroma of their products. Mom in law bought a bee whitening soap which is popular in their products. Many of their customers are in high classes. It sounds expensive but I know it is effective. I am using their soap right now.
